Judith “Judy” Ann Corbeil, lovingly known as “Picoe” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19th, 2026, at the age of 87.
Judith Ann Marshall was born on March 5th, 1938, in Newington, CT, to parents Dorothy Mae White and James Crofut Marshall, and was joined later by her younger brother, James Andrew. Judy enjoyed playing piano and singing, and she continued her love of music though adulthood as an active church choir member for many years. One of her favorite childhood memories was winning a prize at a talent show for singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by one of her favorite singers, Judy Garland. Judy would continue to support the arts through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by encouraging music lessons, attending plays, recitals, and school concerts, and taking them to see Broadway musicals. She enjoyed attending many sporting events, sitting on the bleachers for freezing football games and blazing hot baseball games, she attended graduation ceremonies, and enthusiastically celebrated all the accomplishments of her family members.
Judy was married at the age of 18 in 1956, and had five children during her first marriage. After 10 years, she became a determined single mother and worked to earn her nursing certification to support her family. Judy had a long career as a nurse, caring for the elderly in several nursing homes. In 1970, Judy married Frank Corbeil and moved their blended family to Avon, CT, where they spent a few years on a farm where their children kept horses and other animals. Judy also became an avid photographer, taking photography classes and documenting decades of family history from behind the lens.
In 1973, Frank and Judy purchased the home they came to cherish in Unionville, CT, where they were active members of the community. Their home was defined by the many renovations of the historic house and barn. Inside, the house was filled with antiques, an extensive Santa Claus collection, and large, joyful Christmas Day celebrations. While living in Unionville, Judy
served in many capacities at First Church of Christ, Unionville, and later at Memorial United Methodist Church of Avon. She was a devoted friend and neighbor, often going out to lunch with friends, ensuring local schoolchildren in need had backpacks and school supplies each year, visiting homebound elderly community members, and serving as a volunteer at a local senior care center.
In retirement, Judy and Frank enjoyed international and local travel, visiting friends and family throughout the country whenever possible. For a time, they owned a campground plot at “The Klondike” campgrounds in the Berkshires in Otis, MA, where the family created many lasting memories. They also owned a beach house in Westbrook, CT, which became a staple for grandchildren’s sleepovers, summer beach days, and family cookouts. Even in her decline, Judy was able to remember the names of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew, and she was always delighted to hear about their milestones and achievements.
Judy is survived by her children Sharon Dupont Culbertson and her husband Jeffrey, Thomas Dupont, Pamela Dupont Gebauer and her husband John, Michael Dupont and his wife Marcia and James Dupont and his wife Jennifer, along with her late husband’s sons Glen Corbeil and his wife Marianne, Timothy Curtis and his wife Patti. Judy is survived by grandchildren Kelley,
Jesse, Kyle, Ryan, Christopher, Paul Christopher (PC), Curtis, Julianne, Madison, and nieces Elizabeth, Marlena, Rebecca, Michelle, Veronica, nephew James and all of their families. Judy also leaves behind her twelve great-grandchildren. Judy is predeceased by her husband, Francis (Frank) Corbeil, and her brother, James (Jim) Marshall.
