SUMMARY:Memorial Garden Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Date: Fourth Tuesday of the month\nTime: 6:30 pm\nLocation: Memorial Garden \nAbout the committee: \nMemorial Garden Committee is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Memorial Garden\, recording of those remembered in the garden\, purchase and installation of memorial plaques. Memorial Garden Committee is under the jurisdiction of and overseen by the Board of Trustees. \nMemorial Garden was established to remember persons no longer with us who rest in the certain hope of resurrection into eternal life. It is a living memorial of simple and natural beauty where every season is a reminder of life’s eternal renewal. The quiet beauty found in the Garden is a source of comfort\, encouragement and inspiration for all who visit. The privilege of having a name entered on the bronze Memorial Plaque and/or ashes scattered or placed in the Garden is reserved for MUMC members\, their immediate families\, past members and friends of the congregation. For a designated donation of $500\, the name of the memorialized person will be placed on the Plaque located in the Garden. Pre-arrangements may be made for placement of cremains (ashes) and remembrance on the Memorial Plaque. Brochures with complete information about the Garden\, as well as forms for submittal of information\, are available in the display in the Narthex of the Sanctuary. \nChairperson serves as a member of the Church Charge Conference and Church Council. \n*MUMC Memorial Garden is open year-around to everyone. Come relax\, mediate\, pray\, and recharge your soul!

DESCRIPTION:Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting\nMeeting Date: Every Wednesday and Saturday (Open Meeting)\nTime: 8:00 pm\nLocation: Fellowship Hall \nAlcoholics Anonymous (AA) was founded in America in 1935 by Bill Wilson (Bill W.) and Robert Smith (Dr. Bob). Two centuries earlier\, John Wesley\, the founder of Methodism\, established Methodist penitent bands in England\, which organized on Saturday nights\, the evening on which members of these small groups were most tempted to frequent alehouses.  The hymns and teaching provided during these meetings addressed the issues the members faced\, thus the connection between these bands and the current practices of AA. \nIn addition\, other Avon locations for AA meetings are available\, one at the Avon Center Congregational Church each morning at 7:00 AM\, and also on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 PM at the West Avon Congregational Church on Country Club Road. \nIf you know of anyone who would benefit from participating in any of these meetings\, please have them contact any of the three churches mentioned.  AA is truly a lifesaving program that has stood the test of time.

DESCRIPTION:Healing & Anointing Service\nDate: Last Sunday of the month\nTime: Following 9:30 am Summer Sunday Service\nLocation: Sanctuary \nIn the United Methodist Church\, healing and anointing are important ministries\, though they are not considered sacraments in the same way as Baptism and Holy Communion. Instead\, they are understood as sacramental acts—means of grace through which God’s presence\, love\, and healing power can be experienced. \nOur church will hold the healing and anointing service (5-10 minutes) after each Sunday service on the last Sunday of the month. During healing and anointing\, you may come forward to the altar rail\, and the pastor may place hands on the head or shoulder and anoint with oil on the forehead in the sign of the cross. Or you may remain in the pew and pray for yourself and others. Or you may leave quietly for Coffee Hour. \nIf you have any questions about the healing and anointing service\, please feel free to contact Pastor Lee. May the Lord be with you\, touch you\, and make you strong and well in body and spirit through healing and anointing! Amen.
