SUMMARY:SPR Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Date: Quarterly\, 3rd Thursday of Jan.\, Apr.\, July\, and Oct.\nTime: 7:15 pm\nLocation: Palor and Zoom \nAbout the committee: \nThe following are some key duties of the SPR committee. Most are taken from the UMC Book of Discipline\, but not all are listed\, and some are specific to MUMC. \n\nTo encourage\, strengthen\, nurture\, support\, and respect the pastor and staff and their family(s).\nTo develop and approve written job descriptions within employee agreements. To maintain the Personnel\, Policies & Procedures Employee Handbook. Ensure these documents are signed upon hire\, annually and when any changes. Keep these and other SPR documents in locked church file cabinet.\nTo confer with\, consult\, and counsel the pastor and staff on matters pertaining to priorities in the use of their gifts\, skills\, time; and priorities for the demands and effectiveness of the mission and ministry of the congregation.\nTo provide evaluation at least annually for the use of the pastor and staff in an ongoing effective ministry and for identifying continuing educational needs and plans. Keep written record of evaluations.\nThe committee shall cooperate with the pastor\, the district superintendent\, and the bishop in securing clergy leadership. Its relationship to the district superintendent and the bishop shall be advisory only. NYAC determines our pastor appointment\, starting salary\, travel/moving requirement\, vacation/spiritual renewal time-off\, health and life insurance\, pension\, housing requirement. We can decide salary increase. SPRC confers with the pastor and/or other appointed members of the staff if it should become evident that the best interests of the charge and pastor will be served by a change of pastor. -The committee and the pastor shall have the authority to hire\, contract\, evaluate\, promote\, retire\, and dismiss non appointed personnel\, but shall keep informed the Church Council regarding such matters. SPR will seek approval and direction from Church Council for any employment changes that affects church function\, ministry\, unity\, etc. SPR will seek approval from Finance committee for any salary changes to the budget.\nMembers of the committee shall keep themselves informed of personnel matters in relationship to the Church’s policy\, professional standards\, liability issues\, and civil law. They are responsible for communicating and interpreting such matters to staff.\n\nChairperson serves as a member of the Church Charge Conference and Church Council.

DESCRIPTION:Meeting Date: once every two months on the 3rd Tuesday\nTime: 5:30 pm: Bring your own supper  (time for fellowship) | 6 pm – 7 pm: Meeting\nLocation: Parlor and Zoom \nAbout the committee: \nThe number one goal of the Pastoral Care Committee is to keep in touch with members of our congregation who are struggling with a life-changing situation\, such as an illness or death in the family\, aging issues\, or loneliness. Some situations are obvious\, and we are able to assist in various ways\, including visits and meals. \nSupport may include phone calls\, delivery of home-cooked meals\, home or hospital visits\, transportation\, hospital survivor kits for the caregivers who may spend endless hours in a sterile waiting room\, get well and thinking of you cards\, or any other assistance that may be requested. Pastoral care partnerships ensure that contact is being maintained with those who may be alone or may have needs. It is amazing what a difference a friendly visit and a warm meal can make in lifting one’s spirits. \nOngoing study\, speakers\, and discussion keep committee members educated\, informed\, and equipped for one-on-one assistance to our members. \nChairperson serves as a member of the Church Charge Conference and Church Council.

DESCRIPTION:Meeting Date: 3rd Tuesday of the month\nTime: 7:00 pm\nLocation: Parlor and Zoom \nAbout the committee: \nChurch Council provides for the planning and implementing of a program of nurture\, outreach\, witness\, and resources in the local church and for the administration of its organizational and temporal life. Envisions\, plans\, implements\, and annually evaluates the mission and ministry of the church. The church council shall be amenable to and function as the executive agency of the church charge conference. \nThe responsibility for the review and acceptance of all proposed fundraisers and events taking place at and on behalf of Memorial lies with this committee as the Council is responsible for the careful planning of the church calendar in order to provide a balance of activities\, as well as avoiding possible burden placed on church members to provide support of MUMC fundraising events. \nAdditionally chairpersons of all Committees and the Sunday School Superintendent serve as members of Church Council. All Church Council members serve as members of the Church Charge Conference. Vice-Chairperson serves in the absence of the Chairperson. Recording Secretary records the official minutes of the Church Council and distributes minutes to leaders and the church office (copies of minutes are available to the congregation on the landing); serves as the Recording Secretary of the Church Charge Conference.
